Challenge: Quantify and communicate the value of the SpeedRead AMR Submetering solution for water usage in apartment complexes. Improve the SpeedRead website and create an inviting reference for distributor referals.

Solution: A financial value calculator and case study were created to communicate the value of SpeedRead’s submetering solution. By asking apartment complex owners to 4 questions to describe their property, the financial value calculator shows the expected lifetime property value increase and one-year’s cash-flow impact. The sample case study guides apartment owners through the business case to clarify the value of water submetering. The financial value calculator and case study were included in a complete website redesign, including content creation, graphic design, and technological implementation.

Results: SpeedRead has a superior tool for communicating their value to clients and developing distributor relationships. New distributors have signed distribution agreements allowing for a larger distribution of SpeedRead’s solution.

Challenge: Quantify and communicate the value of selecting Blue Heron Consulting for Utility Customer Information System (CIS) implementation projects.

Solution: A business impact model was created to communicate the value of Blue Heron’s business and professional services. The business value was demonstrated through delineating the points-of-parity and points-of-differentiation with other industry competitors. A financial model supported and clarified the business value message through calculating the expected savings over the lifetime of a specific customer’s project given four high-level details of the customer’s project.
