Wiglaf Journal Survey Response

CHICAGO - [December 11, 2002]

Thank you for participating in the first Wiglaf Journal Reader survey. Your expressed desires are extremely useful in defining the future Wiglaf Journal. While our final report includes 34 pages of data, analysis, and recommendations, we are publishing some of the highlights of the research findings.

Over 600 subscribers of the Wiglaf Journal received our Reader Survey and the response rate was in line with expectations providing meaningful data for formulating insights and making decisions.

Wiglaf Journal’s subscribers are 40% CEO’s and Sales and Marketing executives. The remaining subscribers can be characterized as professors, marketing consultants, investors, and general business professionals. Industry wise, Wiglaf Journal’s subscribers are split 50/50 between technology driven industries and non-technology driven industries in mostly (76%) small to mid-sized companies.

We learned that the current business climate has required senior management to evaluate the role of Sales and Marketing somewhat differently. Rather than just putting budgeted dollars and human capital together to achieve expectations, management now views Sales and Marketing as a strategy driven function. With 43% of the CEO respondents identifying “Revenue Growth” as their primary concern, strategic development, planning, monitoring, and control has been identified as paramount. Matching this concern, approximately 90% of the sample expressed interest in articles and presentations concerning Sales and Marketing Strategy and Tactics. Based upon the reader’s request, we intend to present some of the most desired talks at upcoming events over the next year.

Interesting findings also were found in asking how individuals would describe the Wiglaf Journal to a friend. Many subscribers commented on the quality, timeliness, and depth of the articles and published research. Several other responses acknowledged our parent firm’s services in Sales and Marketing Strategy and Market Research. Here are some of your thoughts on what the Wiglaf Journal is…:
